Sound alchemist and TIMEWHEEL artist Skytree has unveiled a new and mysterious concoction. Inspired by recent understanding of dinosaurs’ striking similarity to modern birds, this recording consists of several large bird species pitched down multiple octaves, slowed, convoluted and harmonized to replicate what dinosaurs may have genuinely sounded like in the flesh, millions of years ago. Such giant creatures would undoubtedly have been capable of generating incredible bass or infrasound, even lower than some large birds that still live today. A field recording of a forest by a friend’s home in West Virginia has been mixed underneath throughout to join the sounds together with continuous ambience, as a montaged menagerie of species may have sounded in the far distant past.
