This work abstractly explores the ideas of nature and technology – in conflict and in harmony – leaving interpretation open to the viewer. While virtually traveling through time and space, we get a glimpse of what awaits us, and what has been. There is a sense of transformation and renewal leaving an afterglow of optimism.
The soundtrack, composed intentionally with a tempo of 110 beats per minute, helps the body relax while also stimulating imagination. Paired with the choreographed animation, the combination creates a magical and transporting present-moment awareness. Often viewers don’t realize how much time has passed and are left with the feeling of having emerged from another dimension. There is so much to see, many return to experience it again and again.
Horizons of the Future is best viewed in a partially reclined/seated position facing forward, though it is also suitable for open layouts, dancing, or casual viewing. Horizons of the Future is the sole work of Stephen Walker, a multi-disciplinary artist, developer, and music producer working under the name Axon Genesis. Leveraging years of experience as a motion graphics designer, visual effects artist, and game developer, he brings a unique aesthetic, blending reimagined retro-futuristic styles with modern graphics and influences from geometric and shamanic forms. Through his work he strives to create multi-sensory, mind-expanding experiences that inspire and awaken creativity in others.
