Deep in the rainforest of the Hawaiian islands, Shelajit presents an evocative visual accompaniment for ‘Puolo’ off recently released EP, Holoholona. Alluring and captivating, the performance powerfully conveys the state of body and mind for which the piece is intended to be experienced.
Inspired by the Hawaiian islands, which I now call home, I acknowledge that I too am a visitor here. Each of us have our place in a finely designed ecosystem and synch together in perfect rhythm to create a masterpiece of life. The earth, in its complexity and simplicity; full of both movement and stillness all at once, is my teacher. All elements in balance with one another.
Although the natural and cultural ways of the Hawaiian islands have been perverted, its rhythm and life force are unshakable and cannot be owned.
May the richness and wisdom of these islands continue to thrive and be respected by all that humbly walk upon them. May the “Puolo” or “rhythm” in Hawaiian be respected. May we honor the four legged ones, the wings ones, the creatures, the fungi, the bacteria and all living things. May we respect each other as we walk further down the path to our human evolution.
Thank you to the Hawaiian Islands, specifically Maui for welcoming me here. I vow to continue to reciprocate my care and reverence for this land. May we continue to share our magic with one another and our respect for this earth. Mahalo Nui Lao.
