Today, Skytree unveils a new, highly-anticipated studio project, Harmonic Residents. Flowing through a similar vein as 2011’s Crystal Consciousness, the carefully woven release is a culmination of both past and present, old and new.

An alluring ambience blended with trance-inducing frequencies and hypnotic beat layering persists through-out the arrangement, resulting in an anagogic and uniquely Skytree experience. Make your way and live among the Harmonic Residents in the stream above.

“Harmonic Residents grew in parallel with 2022’s all-ambient album Forest Family, and then went beyond. With new tools on deck in a rebuilt studio, the level of detail in this project crystallized over several years in a culmination of hardware sessions, mix-downs, lessons and experiments.

Initial sketches were all created without a desktop or laptop, and beats were layered by hand on an MPC. Physical instruments like penny whistle, piano and guitar formed much of the melodic backbone. Novel approaches to modular synthesis (many involving geological samples and processes), radio, tape manipulation and field recordings drove the sound design.

Harmonic Residents is familiar but fresh, deeper into the woods, a little off the beaten path into a neighboring land…perhaps well into an old growth forest or crystal cave. It explores a similar bearing as 2011’s Crystal Consciousness, but much farther down the trail…

My sincere gratitude goes to my collaborators Adam Coleman (aka Enigmada) for his beautiful work on Airglow, Brandon Abley for his beautiful concert flute work on Drumlin Fields, Bobby West (aka Erothyme) for all of the excellent listening notes and mix tips, Matt Humble for all the media juggling, and Shawn Rybacki for sharing creative space every day. And of course, thank you to all who listen and support. Be well. Live long and prosper,”
